Claudia

Claudia owns her own house cleaning business and has a safe, comfortable place to call home. It wasn't always like that, though. With a troubled childhood and alcoholic parents, Claudia fled home at 15. She sought freedom but instead found herself caught in the destructive cycle of alcohol and drug abuse. More than 30 years later, Claudia was still leading a troubled life. She was living on the streets, wandering around for days without sleep and feeling alone and afraid. When her youngest daughter became pregnant, Claudia chose to turn her life around. "I wanted to know a normal life," she said. "I wanted to be a mother to my daughters and be a good grandmom." With the help of Camillus House, she started to get her life back. She found a safe place to stay, nutritious meals and medical care. Now she lives at Camillus House's Somerville Residence and looks forward to work every day. She was also reunited with her two daughters and five grandchildren. "I'm not alone anymore. And I have my own place. Wow! It's just wonderful!".
