Institute of Social & Personal Adjustment
Mental illness, substance abuse problems, and other factors often prevent individuals who are homeless from seeking the help they need. Addressing these issues is a central part of Camillus House’s plan to help individuals become productive members of society.
Despite the complex nature of chronic homelessness, the success rate for those individuals engaged in active treatment through Camillus House’s Institute of Social & Personal Adjustment (ISPA) is nearly 90%, making it one of the most successful, either publicly or privately funded programs in the country.
ISPA provides behavioral health treatment for substance abuse, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders. The program offers individuals the flexibility of a range of treatment options including residential, outpatient, and aftercare services.
Camillus House has long recognized that treatment must be tailored to the individual’s needs and preferences, therefore, ISPA employs multiple approaches and modalities, emphasizing the development of individual-centered plans that are culturally, racially, and ethnically appropriate.
Naming rights for the Institute of Social & Personal Adjustment program is $7 million and supports:
- the expansion of ISPA’s treatment capacity, doubling its size to 128 residential treatment beds and support infrastructure
- the addition of clinical and behavioral health services for women and Spanish speaking individuals
- a facility dedicated to house ISPA
